Fake Make Up Kit

DIY Diva Toy Make Up Kit

My niece, Abby, is a diva. She’s loud, beautiful, always the center of attention, and LOVES makeup. Abby is such a budding beauty queen that her older sister has to hide makeup from her. (Or, risk the rath of Mom when Abby turns up covered in lip gloss after a nap. True story.) So, when Abby’s second birthday came around, I knew exactly what to get her. But, man was I having a tough time finding an affordable, FAKE makeup kit. I mean, the kid is only two for goodness sake! Then it hit me. I can totally make this!

Spray Paint Mason Jar

Easy as one, two, three!

I’ve been seeing mason jar treatments everywhere. So, when I found myself on a farm with an extra mason jar and spray paint, I couldn’t help myself. It was meant to be. I was convinced this wouldn’t be as easy as it seems. I was wrong. It really is as simple as pointing and spraying. And the result is even more stunning than pictures can do justice. Since I already had plans for the table centerpieces at this party, I used this arrangement to spruce up the lady’s room. The jar got a little banged up on the trip home, but I like it even better now that it looks a little aged. It’s a welcome addition to our table for fall! Feeling adventurous? Tinsel Covered 30

Sneak Peek: Vintage, Country, Chic 30th Birthday Bash!

I am thrilled to be working with an amazing family to throw this weekend’s awesome 30th birthday party. The guest of honor is so loved, and deservedly so. He is a genuine, happy-go-lucky, do anything for anybody type. The entire family is incredibly fun-loving and I just know the party is going to be a massive celebration of a great guy. Plus, I get to work alongside this adorable (and mischievous) kitten!

Emergency Bridal Kit

Wedding Emergency Kit

Weddings are a time of insurmountable pressure and an absurd focus on perfection. That is why (even long before I became a planner myself) I always tell newly engaged couples one thing. HIRE. A. PLANNER. My husband and I hired a day-of coordinator because I did not want to feel like a producer at my own wedding. In the end we agreed it was the best money we spent. Of course, whether you hire a planner or not, things inevitably go wrong. My bustle broke a whopping 5 times between the cocktail hour and the last dance. Thank goodness my planner had the mecca of safety pins.

Pumpkin Centerpiece

The Perfect Pumpkin Fall Centerpiece

Alright folks, it’s getting to be THAT time of year. The leaves are changing, my neck is no longer covered in a constant film of sweat, and the stores are eagerly reminding us that Christmas is literally RIGHT. AROUND. THE CORNER! (Also known as three months away.) Last October, I was notified that it is essential that we have the Hubs’ father, step-mother, grandmother, aunt #1 of 9, aunt #2 of 9, and brother over for dinner before we had our one year anniversary in November. I tried (desperately) to tell the Hubs that there was no way his Grandma would be able to get up the stairs to our apartment. No dice. This lady is seriously so cool (and determined) that she practically crawled up the two flights of stairs to our place. I aspire to be more like her. I knew I had to really take it up a notch to impress this delightful new branch of my family. They throw THE BEST parties. And, since I tend to over analyze even the simplest of shindigs I attend, that is major kudos.
