Inexpensive DIY Cupcake Liner Pomanders

Have an extra three hours? Then this one’s for you! But before you even start, head over here to learn how to hand dye your cupcake liners. Despite the excessive time required, I had a blast making these for the colorful baby shower I was planning. And they turned out so stunning, I might even consider doing it again. It all started when I stumbled across the below in Martha Stewart Living while I was at the gym. Oh Martha, you make it look so quick! And because I’m a chronic overachiever, I decided that I needed to add some color to each and every liner by hand dying them. I think it was worth it. Do you? Do-it-Yourself Alternative Pomanders Supplies: Styrofoam balls of varying sizes – I used an 8 inch ball, 5 inch ball, and two 4 inch balls. Just remember, they get bigger when you add all the cupcake liners to them. And, each ball took about 45 minutes to complete. Cupcake liners – I followed Martha’s advice and bought 300 mini cups. Dyed Cupcake Liner Extravaganza

The majority of my weekend was spent making a very time-consuming decor element for an upcoming event. Dying three to four HUNDRED cupcake liners is only step one. I’m not ready to spill the beans about what we do with all these dyed cupcake holders, but trust me it’s freaking awesome. In the meantime, I want to share my experience with this crafty cupcake trend that Lauren over at Little Wren started. Lauren makes it look so easy (and beautiful). My experience was a bit more frustrating. First, I could not get my colors to come out the way I wanted. I had my heart set on purple, pink, seafoam, blue, and yellow. Based on Lauren’s experience, this shouldn’t be so hard. I KNOW that blue and red make purple. And red and water should make pink, just like Lauren says. So why did mine look like this: Eventually, I blamed the problem on crappy food coloring, took a deep breath, and decided that blue, seafoam, and yellow would be just perfect. DIY Diva Toy Make Up Kit

My niece, Abby, is a diva. She’s loud, beautiful, always the center of attention, and LOVES makeup. Abby is such a budding beauty queen that her older sister has to hide makeup from her. (Or, risk the rath of Mom when Abby turns up covered in lip gloss after a nap. True story.) So, when Abby’s second birthday came around, I knew exactly what to get her. Easy as one, two, three!

I’ve been seeing mason jar treatments everywhere. So, when I found myself on a farm with an extra mason jar and spray paint, I couldn’t help myself. It was meant to be. I was convinced this wouldn’t be as easy as it seems. I was wrong. It really is as simple as pointing and spraying. And the result is even more stunning than pictures can do justice. Since I already had plans for the table centerpieces at this party, I used this arrangement to spruce up the lady’s room. The jar got a little banged up on the trip home, but I like it even better now that it looks a little aged. It’s a welcome addition to our table for fall! Feeling adventurous?
